Widdington Country Garden

The garden for this newly built timber-framed barn was a blank canvas. The house was set on half an acre of former paddock, with the majority of the garden positioned at the front of the house. Overlooked by five houses, this expansive garden needed privacy and a sense of enclosure. The layout and planting has to provide an easily accessible space that can also cater to grandchildren and pets. To direct the view away from the neighbouring houses, the garden has been designed on a 45° angle with blocks of naturalistic planting to cocoon the house and lawn. Bespoke sections of Corten steel fins have been strategically located to disrupt sight lines to and from the neighbouring houses while creating discrete zones within the garden. The fins have been designed to provide privacy without blocking views or feeling solid and heavy. This project is currently under construction and is due to be completed between now and Spring 2026.
